It contains natural yeast and beneficial bacteria that give sourdough its unique flavor, yes of course it cannot make bread by itself. Instead of throwing this waste away, you can mix it into different foods like pancakes, waffles, sourdough discard cookies, and bagels to add sour flavor.
INGREDIENTS
- Sourdough starter
- All-purpose flour
- Sugar
- Fine sea salt
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Large eggs
- Milk
- Butter

- First of all, you need to Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl using a whisk. Combine the liquid components. Stir softly until a uniform batter is created; a few clumps are acceptable.
- Melt a small amount of butter in a big 10-inch skillet (cast iron or non-stick) on medium-low heat. Swish the pan to cover the surface.
- Add batter to the pan making up 1/3 cup. Prepare for 1-2 minutes, adjusting the heat as necessary. When the edges start to protrude and bubbles form on the top, turn it upside down. Continue cooking for about another minute. Put the pancake on a baking sheet and keep it warm in the oven as you cook the remaining ones.
- To proceed, wipe the skillet with a scrunched-up paper towel. Put additional butter in the pan if it becomes too dry. Continue cooking until you have used up all of the batter.
