Today I want to share one of my favorite ways to use up that uses extra sourdough starter, Sourdough Discard Pancakes! , these Pancakes are  not just your average breakfast – these pancakes are delicious and full of softness and a little tang in it will feel you a royalty, if you are looking for a way to make your morning more refreshed than ever then you need to try this, believe me, you will love this, So let’s get started

What is sourdough discard

Sourdough discard refers to the remaining part of the sourdough starter of the sour starter that is removed during the starter feeding process. It contains natural yeast and beneficial bacteria that give sourdough its unique flavor, yes of course it cannot make bread by itself. Instead of throwing this waste away, you can mix it into different foods like pancakes, waffles, sourdough discard cookies, and bagels to add sour flavor.

INGREDIENTS

  • Sourdough starter
  • All-purpose flour
  • Sugar
  • Fine sea salt
  • Baking powder
  • Baking soda
  • Large eggs
  • Milk
  • Butter

INSTRUCTION

  • First of all, you need to Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl using a whisk. Combine the liquid components. Stir softly until a uniform batter is created; a few clumps are acceptable.
  • Melt a small amount of butter in a big 10-inch skillet (cast iron or non-stick) on medium-low heat. Swish the pan to cover the surface.
  • Add batter to the pan making up 1/3 cup. Prepare for 1-2 minutes, adjusting the heat as necessary. When the edges start to protrude and bubbles form on the top, turn it upside down. Continue cooking for about another minute. Put the pancake on a baking sheet and keep it warm in the oven as you cook the remaining ones.
  • To proceed, wipe the skillet with a scrunched-up paper towel. Put additional butter in the pan if it becomes too dry. Continue cooking until you have used up all of the batter.

  •  Keep  Pancake warm: Place cooked sourdough discard pancakes on a baking sheet in a low oven like 200F or 93 C to keep them warm while you finish cooking
  • Experiment with Flavors: Add flavors  like cinnamon or nutmeg or try adding a teaspoon of vanilla extractor for extra flavor

How to store

Freezing 🙂:

If you want to make sourdough discard pancakes  ahead  of time, you can freeze them, you need to cool down the brownies then stack the sourdough discard pancakes  with a baking sheet and store them in a freezer bag, It will keep for up to 2 months

Room Temperature:
